or something like that! (I personally believe that every day should be a Taco something-or-another.)
Really, truly? The title is just a segue into a totally random assortment of stuff . . .
(1) Thankful that I found a sitter for Halle today. This means that only Dylan has to tag along with me to work. That actually works. He is fairly easy to amuse and also quiet. Halle? Not so much. The whole idea of dragging a child along with me to work? Not one of my most favorite or efficient things to do. But, if you'll recall, I'm the one who wanted my kids to have a break from their schedules this summer. Which ultimately means I'm the one who is screwed. But still.
(2) My husband is beyond pissed at me. And I wish he wasn't. But he is and seemingly, there is nothing I can do to change that. Other than to reverse a previous decision that I made. (Yes, acknowledge the word "I". Because I made the decision. Not us. But it's not nearly as huge as deciding to go back to school and get his Master's degree, without my agreement, which I have forgiven him for. So some day, he will hopefully forgive me for letting Dylan go to Hunter's Safety with someone other than him. Some. Day. Preferably sooner rather than later.)
(3) Tahoe. We are not going there this weekend. This is a good thing. (Sadly.) Because when you are as busy as John has been? Another weekend away is a really bad thing, versus a good thing. Although I love Tahoe and I really love it for the 4th. We are skipping it. For sanity's sake.
(4) Skipping Tahoe means that I get to see our Shannon (!!) and her family, including her fiance, whom I haven't yet had the chance to interrogate properly. We'll hopefully hang with Ed and Stacy (looking for a sitter on Saturday night . . . any takers?). We might even make it to church for the first time all summer. We can do our neighborhood bike parade. And we can take our pick of somewhat local places to go and watch the fireworks. Plus we'll hang with the Saylors on the afternoon of the actual 4th. Makes you wonder why were even considering Tahoe in the first place!
(5) Naps. Halle seems to think she doesn't need them. But oh-dear-God, I think she still does! She took one yesterday (after several days without) and it was an amazing transformation. She was pleasant. Enjoyable. Funny. And she went to bed last night without putting up such a stinkin' fuss!
This was what happened last week, when she didn't nap. (And Dylan stayed up all night at a sleepover. All. Night.) This photo was taken at 5:00 pm. Never a good time for a nap! She was sitting on the couch, letting her fingernails and toenails dry. Even after her little sleep? She didn't smudge a single nail!
(6) Halle had her first swim lesson yesterday and although I wasn't there, it was reportedly a good experience. We love, love, love her teacher, so that helps a ton. Halle told me that she almost cried after she went underwater, but then she didn't. Hopefully, that trend of not-crying will continue!
(7) Speaking of missing her swim lesson, I was busy at not one, but two doctor's appointments. The first was for my mysterious neck-lump (that's what I've decided to call it). That resulted in an order for another ultrasound. Sound familiar? Yep. This will be the third ultrasound, hopefully saying the same thing . . . it's a lymph node. And my second appointment was for . . . drum roll please . . . an ultrasound! But not of my neck. Confused yet? That one was my follow-up with the breast surgeon about my (you guessed it) lumps in my left breast. Which have disappeared. Yeah for disappearing breast lumps!
(8) We had a dance party in Dylan's room the other night. Just because. And Halle decided that wearing his (clean) underwear on her head was totally the thing to do. It was pretty dang funny. There is also video, but I had to swear that it would never hit the Internet. And it's probably a good thing :)
And now, I am off to work. Dylan in tow. I think he's actually sleep-walking. Because it's still before noon. If you have a pre-teen boy? You know what I'm talking about!
