let's see . . .
Tomorrow, May 9th, we will officially "raise the walls" on our Habitat for Humanity house. I had the honor of chairing our Family Selection Committee and am so excited for these families to get a home! We were actually able to choose two families - one for the build that we are working on and another for a home completed about a year ago. The completed home had a family partnered already, but apparently they disqualified themselves with an increase in their earnings. Good news for them, I'm sure, but hard to see a home sit there, empty for a year. Anyway, super exciting stuff! I am serving as the emcee tomorrow morning and have yet to find someone to run the sound system for me. Anyone? Bueller?
My neck and back decided that they should spasm uncontrollably for about 24 hours. After physical therapy, a day off and an impressive combination of muscle relaxers and ibuprofen, I am somewhat functional. Thank goodness! It would be bad if I was all hopped up on Soma and pain killers at tomorrow's wall-raising ceremony!
Halle-boo is still cute. And that's a good thing for her. Because what a booger that child is. She can give me a nasty look that I didn't master until i was 13. It usually happens after she loses her sh*t and smacks me with ridiculous strength. I then sit her little buns down and "timeout" her - which really means that I hold her there, because it really pisses her off that she is not in control at all time - and tell her that we don't hit. "We give loves, not hits . . . blah, blah, blah!" And she gives me the look from hell, basically thinking the entire time about popping me in the face again. Maybe even harder this time so I would just shut the heck up! And yes, those of you who think she is so sweet all of the time . . . she's not. FYI.
I am super-glad it's Friday. And that we're closer to the end of this end-of-the-school-year insanity. It seriously goes from like mid-April until the first week of June. Too long. Too much!
I (stupidly) thought that if I got started on Dylan's teacher gift early (as in, last weekend) that I wouldn't struggle with getting it done. But guess what? Of the 27 parents that I emailed a very short little interview to? Eight have responded. So I'm sending out a reminder that it needs to be to me by Monday. And if folks don't respond? There will be a nice picture of their kid in the Shutterfly book that I'm making. But nothing more. Except maybe their name. I'll put their name in it. Because I'm nice like that.
And lastly? Friday is garbage day. Do you think if I called the garbage company and asked nicely, they would refrain from doing the noisiest trash pick-up ever during Halle's morning nap? And while I'm at it, I'll call the HOA yard guys too and ask them to avoid certain hours. And then maybe, just maybe . . . every single dog in the frickin' neighborhood could just shut-up with the incessant barking!
